Default What type terminals are on the alternator?

Screw posts, dedicated plugs, etc?

I'm going to install relays for the headlights and would like to tap directly into the alternator. If too much work is involved, I'll just hook it all up to the battery. The alternator would obviously be the better source...

Does anybody know anything about the alternator terminals and access to them?

I believe that the wiring is connected via threaded studs with nuts.

Default Not sure how easy access will be, but also consider using...

...either the starter or the jump post (agreed alternator is best though). All are 8 mm studs.

Default Engineers are sadists

Do Audi mechanics naturally have the tiny hands of ten year old girls or what? Before I work on my car I always prepare disinfectant and wound dressing. A nurse on standby is advisable. Well, I'm exaggerating, but not by much! ;-)

Default Not all of us are sadists! Usually, all of the connections in the engine area are easily...

accessible as you assemble the car, but are PITA when the car is fully assembled, as in DIY service

Default Repairs are ideally possible on a fully assembled car

... in this ***-backwards world. :-P

That reminds me, the fuel filter is almost 12 years old. That'll be fun to replace!

Default Same spot, I think

The rear axle has to be lowered, or the fuel tank has to be loosened and lifted with force to get access to the fuel filter.

Bummer. The A6 fuel filter can be changed w/o removal of anything, full access.
