hey guys i have a automatic a4 car drives great never had any trans problems shifted great.woke up for work 2 weeks ago and my car would not reverse and was not showing up on the dash that it was in reverse all other gears worked pushed the car out drove to work then all other gears went.had the car towed to the shop and mechanic told me my trans range sensor was busted and filled with water and also that his computer could not comunicate with my tcu..i got the range sensor car wouldnt shift still found a used working tcu still wont shift into gear..now when you put a tcu in even if its form the same model and year does the tcu still have to be coded to ur car? iv spent alot of money and would like to figure this out is there any one that knows about this

1 you are posting in a wrong forum
2 is the shifter not moving or is the trans not shifting?

the shifter will move just wont shift into gear..at first before the range sensor and tcu it wouldnt show up on the dash that i was in reverse now wiith new range and tcu all the prnd123 will like up when shifter is moved jus wont mechanically shift into gear

Yes, you need to get the new TCU coded to your car. Take it to the stealer.
