Default 2.0T (CPMB) ideal oils

Not to beat a dead horse, but I'm trying to decide what oil to try in our new (used) 15' Q5 with the CPMB engine. I've found the TSBs with VW 502 00 spec, but it seems not many of those oils are readily available. I've been running Mobil 1 0w-40 in my BMW for a couple years with good results, but learned that apparently in 2015 they lost BMW LL-01 certification for that oil due to an oil base change. So, I'm considering trying Castrol Edge 0w-40 in my BMW. It would be nice to be able to stock up on one type of oil if it would be good for the Q5 also...

Amazon Amazon

The description says "
  • API SN/CF, ACEA A3/B3, A3/B4, Meets Ford WSS-M2C937-A, BMW LL-01, Mercedes Benz 229.5 and 229.3, Porsche A40, VW 505 00 and 502 00"
But I never trust Amazon seller descriptions.

We live in Texas, so they summers are terribly hot and winters are pretty mild.

A, the Castrol 0W40 product certainly meets VAG 502.00. It's what I use in one of our cars.

Thanks. I think this is likely what I will run in this Q5. I am tempted to use Motul or Liqui Moly, but I don’t know if the cost is justified when the Castrol is likely “just fine”.

I’ve run the RLI (Renewable Lubricants inc) HD 5W-40 in mine with great results. It was heavily tested and analyzed early on to help solve the R8’s high oil consumption issues. RLI is a small company so not too many people know of them, but they make a gem of an oil. It used to be tough to get but they started selling on Amazon a couple years ago so it’s easy to obtain now. I’ve run it in several of my track cars as well (multiple marques, non-Audi) and it’s performed better than multiple other “big brand” synthetics as compared by used oil analysis and/or when I’ve performed track engine teardown inspections.
