Chugging
Ok, so the 2006 A4 Quattro that I have with the 2.0 in it, seems to sputter when I put my foot into it. Drives smooth as silk if I accelerate normally. Even at highway speed (75 or so.) but if I put my foot in it, it speeds up, but chugs a lot. Today, the CEL was flashing for a minute after it did that. I'm thinking fuel filter? Fuel pump seems ok since it runs fine normally. I have had the car for a few weeks and have only been putting premium gas in it. Even did a can of sea foam last couple of fill ups. Any thoughts? Would a vagcom tell me what was causing the CEL to flash?

Could also be coil pack or dirty injectors. VCDS will show any codes that remain from the CEL. I had similar symptoms (misfire under medium load and CEL). Used fuel injector cleaner and problem has disappeared.

I poured my bottle of fuel injector cleaner into my gas tank when it was close to empty and then immediately filled it up with gas. That was my way of making sure the cleaner was fully mixed in with the gas.
Seafoam could probably have been just as effective.
Guess it doesn't really matter what cleaner you are using; I know most gas already has cleaners in them but this was easy to do and in my case has worked. YMMV.
