Bought the A6 yesterday. 1 owner car. I drive very gently, and I mean it. Is it possible to still get a lot of miles off the original turbos? No smoke off the exhaust or any funny smells.
Planning the oil change asap, and than the entire timing belt service. It should be good, I think.
Please tell me, that this car will be ok.

the turbos can blow anytime so it's hard to predict
as long as you don't hear any dentist drill sound for now...you're fine.
also, warming up and cooling down the car properly can help prolong the turbos.

Should be fine.....
This has been talked about a good bit. The consensus is preventative maintenance(warm up, cool down, oil etc...) combined with gentle operation can result in a very long life span. There are a good bit of people with and without engine mods that are still running with the originals with mileage in the mid 100's. They will eventually fail, thus I will eventually get K04's. Think positive.

Thanks for the positive responses.
This is exactly what I heard from my folks. They are not Audi people, but they know cars, especially my father. The old man said "think positive". Worry when it breaks. Not when it's still working.
Turbos are working fine I think, no smoke or funny smells. Also, when the car is running no noises. I think it's all fine.

All I got to do now is to take care of the check engine.
Than the oil change and THE BIG STUFF: I think the entire timing belt service should be done soon. Will see. Maybe not.

I do think positive...;-P
that's why i told him the same things you did(proper warming up and cooling down).
I was always positive when I drove my car around and properly took care of it. I drove it nice and easy most of the time and was never worried about the turbos. but they still blew early in its life. it's in the process of getting an upgrade which i hope to get back this weekend...=)

Big Problem. Car already broken. I think Thermostat.
My father been driving this car for 2 days, (I'm not driving it yet), pulled up in front of my garage and BOOOOOOOOOM. Broken. Green Colant Everywhere. Don't think any smoke. Called Audi mechanic, he said very likely theremostat. ??? He is going to be fixing it on monday. He is doing the entire timing belt as well. I think ~$1000 gone.
