Default Does $650-$700 cost sound right for a 100,000 mile tune up on A6 2.7T?

Just got quoted about $650 for a 100,000 mile tune-up from the local Tires "". I asked for premium parts and was told the spark plugs they use are (triple platnum plugs instead of double [$26 each]). They said the air filter does not need to be premium ($50 kind) but rather they use a $25 one that they say will provide the same quality.
They said overall my car looks clean and runs great so I may not notice much of a difference after the tune-up.
I'm new to driving an Audi, but was a bit surprised with the cost. Can anyone tell me if they are in the ballpark?
Thanks. Joe

Default That's what I thought. He mentioned that the plugs were tucked way down in the engine,

but it still sounded steep to me.
thanks.

Default They may be tucked way down, but they are easy to change. Beware of using any plugs besides NGK's

as many of the other brand "premium" plugs are only premium in regards to price. DIY using NGK Iridium IX plugs and get a Mann air filter from one of the web vendors. You are getting hosed just because you are driving an Audi, IMO.

Default do it yourself. if you're a scared little girl, give yourself a whole weekend to

do it. I usually take my time and it takes 3-4 hours. That's including lunch, taking a drive in my other car the long way to town, picking up the spark plugs, and driving back.

Default Will I need to mess with any resetting computer systems or anything when I do my own tuneup?

I'm always willing to get my hands dirty and learn something new, just don't want to screw up the whoel car in the process!

Default Lol, you have a lot to learn about this car.

The ECU will adapt just fine, though if you want it to adapt immediately, unplug the ECU for a minute or so.

Oh, and keep track of EVERYTHING that you unplug so you can plug it back in.

Default How much should a timing belt and water pump service cost at the dealer?

What is involved in the 90,000 mile service?

Default it'll cost too much at a dealer - find an independent mechanic to do it for you

it'll be cheaper and probably better quality anyway

STFA for what a 90000 mile service entails - there's a .pdf somewhere
