Default How do I reset check engine light

I just joined this website and think it is great. I love my 2000 2.7t but have had problems with dealer as most of you. To my problem. Driving along one cold night three weeks ago when my check engine light comes on. Took it to dealer and said it read code 1411 and 1433. Told me I need new secondary air valve. Well, I go home and look under the hood and the big hose is disconnected from the right valve and the small hose on the left valve is frayed and leaking. Fixed both but my check engine light is still on. How do I reset it without taking it to "stealer"(dealer).

Default You need a code scanner (generic OBD II type or VAG-COM). Most CEL's on this car will not reset

even if the problem that caused it is now fixed. Can take it to your friendly AutoZone or equivalent and ask them to scan the codes and clear them using their code reader.

You can disconnet the negative terminal of the battery for a few minutes. That should do the trick.

Pretty sure this will not clear the codes that cause a MIL or CEL.
