Strange Noise like a saw blade when starting the car
I recently installed two APR diverter valves and the APR bi-pipe on a `02 A6. Since then on a cold starts in the morning I hear a very loud and noticeable noise coming from the engine bay on what seems to be the right hand side (if sitting in driver seat) the closest thing I can describe it to would be a rip or circular saw type noise as it cuts through a piece of wood. I only hear the noise while the EGR valve is engaged, as soon as it lets go the noise goes away, you can actually hear (I think turbos) wind down. It does not seem to have any affect on the car while driving or starting up but it is bothersome and I don't want to let it lead to future problems. Any thoughts or things I should check would be helpful?
I am also running the APR stage 1 chip, the car has just under 50,000 miles everything is stock except what is noted above.
Thanks

Re: A/C on?
It does not make a difference if the A/C is on or off. I spoke with the service manager of a dealership and they thought that it could be the secondary air pump based on the noise description. But I also did a little research and found a couple other things which it could be: the Combi-Valve ? EGR Valve clogged?
Any thoughts???

Re: Strange Noise like a saw blade when starting the car
this is also happening to my 2003 2.7T, so this morning I fiddled around under the hood. The noise was coming from behind the engine, seems to be some kind of pump thing (I'm no mechanic), the position of this device is directly behind the engine, right in the middle, and in front of the brake fluid reservoir.
After fiddling with various stuff the noise went away, I am now hoping that tomorrow morning it does not come back. What I did was clean out the air filter, then I checked the oil level with dipstick, opened the oil cap, and closed it. And then I opened the coolant reservoir, and then closed it. I think it was the coolant reservoir opening and closing that may have solved my problem. The reason I think this is that by opening it I reduced the pressure inside the container. I will post again if this is successful, will find out tomorrow morning.
