Default Turbo Rebuild? Any Cons?

What are the Cons of rebuilding a turbo? I found a few kist ranging from 40.00-100.00. is there anyway to get a replacement impeller or other things you might need? Links to anything you know about would be very helpful.

Thanks, JJ

not sure it's something you would want to tackle yourself.

Default What about having them done? .....

Would they be as good as new? Any suggestion on who would be a good choice to do it?

Default Blouch used to rebuild turbos. Not sure if they still do so.

Might not be a bad idea to find a Borg Warner certified rebuilder. Where are you located?

Defintely not something you want to tackle yourself. You need to balance the spine to some pretty tight tolerances. I had my A4 K03 rebuilt by a turbo shop in CO Springs in 2004. Turbo had 120k on it and the wastegate flap was completely thrashed, leaking boost. Cost $200 at the time but was still running strong when I sold the car in May 08 with 160k miles. Well worth doing IMHO. Hit your local yellow pages and look for truck (as in Semi truck) turbo rebuilders. There are a ton of turbo diesels out there and shop I found works exclusively on turbos.
