2017 Q7 3.0 misfiring and oil consumption issue
#11
I purchased the car in the USA and shipped it to Togo where I live. I spent about $73,000 in total to get it here and processed. Unfortunately I don't think I can claim anything at all with AoA. The car is outside of warranty and there are no Audi dealers in Togo. They don't assist people who live in the USA, what about me who lives somewhere in Africa?

Well, no one will be surprised that even though the vehicle had Audi care on it and the prior owner had it serviced regularly, they won't contribute a dime. The service manager said there's no way they would assist with any car that had over 70k miles. I've owned 8 Audi/VWs and this will be my last. They seem to be getting worse and worse.
They should be embarassed their engine can't last 100k miles.

Do you happen to have bore scope pictures? I would like to see the internal cylinder damage.
If you are considering to replace the engine then ideally look for same engine code to minimize headaches. If you are going to try a different engine code then do some research for block and head part numbers to see if there were critical changes preventing you from moving over basic parts. You may want to do the chain maintenance before installing, clean the injectors, replace maintenance items like PCV Oil Separator, if not MPI then a decarb of intake ports, etc.

2017 Q7 Prestige - PCV
2017 Q7 3.0T at 130k miles. Just went in for PCV replacement…total out the door $3100 for:
PCV + all gaskets O-rings
decarb
Oil change
did I get taken for a ride? Of course Endurance extended warranty refused to pay anything.
Is this car worth holding into? Should I dump it?

Folks will have different opinions but I consider the 3.0T PCV a maintenance item every 100,000KM / 60,000 miles so if it were mine then the engine would be on it’s third PCV assembly at 130,000 miles. The internal rubber diaphragm wears out and tears which creates an internal air leak resulting in loss of PCV performance, increased rate of carbon buildup, excess VOC’s accumulating in the crank case, etc. Why wait for it to fail and cause operational havoc for any length of time? My old 1984 Monte Carlo V8 quadrajet needed a new PCV every year or two for the same reason although it was a $10 part and needed no tools to change… alas the good ol’ days!

You may be getting off easy. I have the same car but 2018 with oil consumption issues. Car was always treated well and serviced at an Audi dealer. They are asking for $28,000 for new piston/ring replacement! Audi is offering some to kick in but I'll still be out over $8000 in a 5 year old car with only 79,000 mi on it. Trying to appeal.

Same issue Boxcutter. I'm now working with Audi - also near Philly in the northern suburbs. Looking at a full engine overhaul. Catastrophic costs and trying to figure out if I want to pay it. Audi is helping but it is still absurdly expensive to replace pistons and rings - essentially the full value of the carl.
