I get horrible noise(dry bearing like) on 2.8 30v ALG engine on idle and on motor breaking. Car has to be warmed up(10 miles of driving) and on idle. Noise goes away when revving the engine or accelerating. I tried to pinpoint the noise and it's coming somewhere near firewall under the coolant reservoir near left(drivers side) valve gasket.

Loosing the oil stick a bit makes the noise disappear and it comes back when i put the stick back.

but there is no leak on main seal area. I have listened this terrible noise over 6 months and it has not went worse. Actually it disappeared for a few months. Car has been 3 times on a stealership, but I just tried the dip stick trick.

Car is tiptronic if it makes a difference.

Could it be kombi valve?
