Default help track down oil leak in 30v 2.8 (pics)

I'm not too familiar when it comes to getting at the engine, so I'm hoping some of you can help me track down an engine leak.

2001 A4 2.8 30v automatic/tip quattro.

on the under side of the car it's dirty from oil dripping down and getting flung back by road wind on to the trany fluid pan in front of it and all over this one sensor/plug.

up towards the head gasket seal area, i noticed a couple drips forming but i still can't see exactly where they are coming from. when i look from above in the engine bay, i just can't see anything that tells me it's leaking from there. when i look from underneath, it's grimey as hell all over so all i could do is track down some collecting drips, those are shown in the last pic.

the order of the pics are as follows. sorry about the cel cam but it's all i have. it should be detailed enough to show where i'm looking.

1. top of engine bay with coolant reservoir shown.

2. zoomed in to detail

3. same spot as #2 but from below the car.

what are things that could be leaking around this area? is there a way to tell if the head gasket seal is leaking?

*** i did have 1 or both of the cam tensioner seals (one on each side) replaced when i had my TB done a while ago but i don't think that's in this area of the engine?

any help is appreciated on any ways to tell where it's coming from.

above engine bay.

Default Black pipe is coolant, ribbed thing is secondary air injection.

Your leak is not a head gasket. It's either the cam plug, cam seal or valve cover gasket.

valve cover gasket, that's what i meant

i got a friend to come take a look at it today, we'll see what he says.

like i said, i had the cam chain tensioner seal replaced when i had the TB done a year and a half ago and maybe they just did the other side and now this one is leaking too. *shrug*

Default Cam adjuster seal is in the front on that side. The cam plug and cam seal for...

...the cam position sensor are located in the area where you have the leak. The reason I suggest doing all three is because it will be easier to do the seal and plug with the valve cover off.

Easier to get to the plug and seal with the valve cover removed.
