A6 4.2 '99 Vacuum issue??

Try checking your intake setup for leaks, starting right after the MAF sensor.
Also make sure to check the intake manifold itself. The first time I removed mine, almost all of the bolts holding it down were loose.

Audikillsbmw, you were quite right about the MAF sensor, I took the car to an VW Audi specialist, the checked the vacuum pipes no problems. Turned out to the be MAF sensor - they swapped that with the new part and now the car seem to run perfectly. The garage said there were no more fault codes - (I havent check on VAGcom yet).
Kaynos - Make sure that you get your MAF from Audi dealer only - my specialist replaced it initally with a bosch part and it didnt fix the problem.

I'm also getting a lean code right now, and it's keeping me from passing my emissions test : (
I just picked up a new fuel filter and MAF assembly. Hopefully that will solve the problem..
