A8 - 4.2L

I've been playing with the Unitronics ME7 USB version of the Lemmiwinks with my Vag-Com HEX/CAN USB cable for the past few months on my 2005 A8.

All I wanted to do initially was bump the idle speed by 50RPM. I have no trouble inputting different idle speeds increments for channel 1
and the ECU definitely DOES get programmed with my new values, because not only will it re-read the new values I've put in, but I also confirm with the VCDS (vag-com) that the stored values in the engine ECU have indeed changed.

I have changed the idle speed from +10 to +200, played with the fuel settings, etc. etc. All the values do appear to get stored in the ECU,

BUT...

There appears to be absolutely NO EFFECT!, nada, zip, NOTHING. I've tried many different things for over three months and no matter what idle speed value I put in (or even play with the fuel enrichment values +/-20, etc.) I notice absolutely ZERO change in my engine's running behavior.

Am I missing a fundamental step that is preventing these values from actualizing (I mean the VCDS does indicate the new stored values in the ECU!!).

Or is this just not compatible with the D3 Audi A8 4.2L? - but the part that I don't get is
that it IS storing the new values into the ECU so why is the engine behavior not being effected?

Hoping the forum can shed some enlightenment on my frustration...
