gearbox whining noise

gearbox whining noise
i have a 2000 a6 4.2 v8 tiptronic that has done 118,000 miles. At high revs there is a whining noise coming from i think the gearbox. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated?

Wrong forum, this is for the actual engine...
However, not wanting to be unhelpful, to me it sounds like a transmission fluid change might be in order, as a first port of call.
