Default is my 2002 S6 throttle by wire?

This would explain the throttle feel, which just feels a bit different. Also, power goes down for each shift, then comes back up.

btw. My 01 NSX had throttle by wire. Great response.

Is there much that can be done to improve the power noticably in the S6 for a REASONALBE amount of money?

Thanks

Default Yes, and that's also why it is sometimes inconsistant

Audi's is not one of the finer implementations of drive by wire. As you've pointed out the Japanese seem to have refined it further. Both my G35 and RX8 also do a better job with DBW throttle linearity and consistancy.
