rear sway bar
OK, so I ordered the 034 rear sway bar and went ahead to install it myself. I'm just posting this as a warning/ heads up to anyone else thinkng of DIYing the thing.
The instructions do not mention that you have to remove these black braces/bars as well. You cannot snake the sway bar out unless you do. Its not very difficult, just some triple square bolts, but I wasted a good amount of time fidling with the bar before I figured what the problem was.
Oh, so I removed them completely where they criss-cross towards the rear of the car first. Then I had to remove some undershield piece to remove the bar that heads up the passenger side (I actually left one bolt up there loose so I could just swing the bar out of the way. The other bar, I just removed all the bolts south of the rear dif and that sag was enough.
Also, leave them loose and finish the install of teh sway bar first as it makes access to the mount easier.
Gave the car a quick test drive and I think I did feel a difference in hard cornering stability, so no faults on the item itself.
...you can even see in the directions the indentations on the (gas tank I think) rear where the bars go... not sure if the bars are only on the allroad and not the A4 but the tank is the same on both, or they just left that step out.
