Has AoA announced that the RS4 Avant will not be sold here?
My first reaction to the article in the link is that we have had RS's here, so the author's credibility is suspect to me. I had a 2007 RS4. Next, has Audi of America announced that we will not get the RS4 Avant next year? If so, I missed their announcement. Finally, Audi Sport will be emphasized according to AoA announcements, so why does anyone assume that AoA is not serious?

Next Avant
Look behind the thinking of the e-tron Sportback and you will see what will power a possible next generation RS4 Avant. Fuel and emission regulations almost certainly mean the current Quattro concept will be killed off. I can’t see an RS4 Avant making any current business sense: allroad sales are pitiful and Audi is not supporting the model through marketing, and if you’re going to do another RS model, then make it the RSQ5.

Catch 22
Marketing budget only goes so far. You test the impact of supporting the allroad vs supporting other models, using data driven modeling and analysis. What the model spits out is where you put your marketing budget.
Audi is doing what other brands do: keep a trademark/model alive on the basis of “you never know”. With the announcement of the new “Road Rover” line launching in 2019 it’s maybe a smart move to keep it alive for now.

You don't. Not being set up to pass the compliance tests in the US market. You can only watch.
