It's all about supply and demand...it's Memorial Day weekend...the demand for fuel
is huge...the supply is fairly constant...therefore according to basic economic principles the cost should go up. I honestly think they just do it to gouge cause they can...but this is what an Econ buff would tell you.

OUCH!!!! Paid $1.53/gal for 93 oct premium yesterday at Super Wal-Mart
Today it was at $1.59. I get excellent performance/mileage with Wal-Mart gas and the prices are always lower than anyone else. Just hope gas prices don't reach $2+ here! Highest I've seen is $1.74 at Chevron & Texaco. (Huntsville/Madison, AL)
