Default Re: 10 Hz resonance to blast your ear drums

This is typical with any car with a sunroof open. The wind comes up over the windshield and creating a negative pressure on the sunroof. My 4Runner has this problem too. You can reduce this effect by opening another window.

Default ** Attn: Bob *** Control Arm stuff..

My dealer "can't seem to diagnose" the problem, but as we all know, it is the infamous control arm clunking. Press brakes, it stops, etc. What can I do to assist them in "diagnosing" the problem???

Hi Andy,

I'm surprised that they can't diagnose the problem. Try another dealer or even a knowledgable Audi/VW mechanic. The lower control arms and guide links fail the most. If they don't see anything, have them check the tie rods and steering rack. Also, as a stetch, I've heard of spring seating problems and sway bar links. Good luck and tell us how it goes.

Regards,
Bob

Has anyone with a 99 or newer experienced problems yet?

Yes, and the relative failure %'s are similar when considering mileage and time.
