'00 1.8TQM give me enough performance?
Im in the market for an new car, Im really busy so insead of driving 2 hours to the nearest Audi dealer to test drive one I thought I would ask you nice people a few questions.
How the acceleration feel in the 1.8tq, does it pull back hard etc? How well does it corner? 150 hp seems a little on the low side, is there a moderate priced (under $700) upgrade to give me maybe another 40-60 hp?
Thanks for any information you could provide me with.

I just picked up my '00 1.8T last week and love it. The power is impressive for the engine size..
and the cornering is incredible. I do have the sports suspension though. I have driven a chipped 1.8 and it sold me on getting the car without hesitation!!!
I got ebony pearl/grey, NAV, sports, quattro, xenon, sideguard and ronal LV rims with dunlop 9000's 225-45 17 inch

What are you comparing the car to? What do you consider acceptable acceleration? What is hard to you? What is hard to me? Cornering? Better than most, not so good as some. Upgrade? Spend 20 minutes browsing the message board, better yet, check out the archives...best of all....DRIVE THE CAR!

Everything is subjective.......................................
Yes, a $400 chip can make an A4 faster. Yes, a suspension package will make the A4 handle better. Is blue better than red? Is it necessary to purchase seats that will warm your bottom? Everyone has an opinion, everything is subjective.
My suggestion - get in your car, start the engine and drive your busy *** down to an Audi dealer and 1) test drive an A4 2) pick up a sales brochure 3) go into a "holding lot" and look at as many Audi's as you can 4) ask as many questions to this forum that you'd like - provided you do a little homework first. You are missing out on a great vehicle, if you pass this one up. You cannot make an intelligent decision without doing some homework. Sweat the details.

Hmmm. "Does in pull back hard?"
Compared to a Hyundai Accent...YES.
Compared to a Porsche 911...NO.
"How well does in corner?"
Compared to a Ford Festiva...GREAT.
Compared to a Ferrari 348...LOUSY.
Can you get 40-60 hp for under $700...a resounding YES!
It's the truth, but did it help you decide? DUDE, GO TEST DRIVE!
