I was playing with my climate control and found out that if you put it in AUTO mode, then press the RECIRC button, and then press the ECON button you can have recirculation without the compressor running. This will not work unless pressed in this order.

Be aware that operating with recirculation without the compressor can lead to a build up of humidity in the car. This can cause fogging of the windows and visibility problems.
