I just bought an '02 Dolphin Gray/3.0/Manual.

Regarding the gray bottom, I think that Audi did this specifically to cover up the tall, flat sides. The car looks great in Dolphin Gray and Black, and the sides look a bit tall but it's not that noticable because they are dark colors.

If you look at the light colors - silver, beige, white, etc. - you'll see that the sides look shorter, but you notice the gray bottom. If the car had painted bottoms in a light color, the sides would look extremely tall. Might not look good.

Anyway, just a thought.

I too have driven these cars at a Benz sponsored marketing event to gauge reaction to their C wagon prior to its release. The CL-S does NOT have the least amount of torque of the cars mentioned, and is in fact the quickest of the group (excluding the 330 which is 0.1 secs quicker to 60 than the CL). The CL-S is actually quicker to 100 than the 330 though (according to C&D).

These cars are all different, excellent vehicles. What is right for you will depend on your daily needs, price (since there is a big price difference between a CL-S (got mine for $28.1K) and a 330 (can push $40K), climate, family considerations ie kids etc.

Calling the Acura the worst car out of that group really isn't a slam against the Acura anyway, since that is an esteemed group of vehicles. But I'd encourage you to get your facts straight before slamming.
