Is 0w40 a year-round oil, better than 0w30?Thanks

It's got a higher high temperature viscosity...
Which means increased pumping losses and a slightly less efficient engine. Not sure if theres any demonstrable increase in protection, more isn't always better.

Yes, good in summer as it will not thin too much at high temp...
..and naturally 0w is great in winter.
So 0w40 is a 0 weight oil that will not thin more than a 40w when hot.
Here, check this out...<ul><li><a href="http://www.fernblatt.com/longhurst/engineoil_bible.html">Engine oil bible</a></li></ul>

I wouldn't quite take that site a gospel...
He's got a few good points but some of his technical assertions are flat out backwards, particularly the bits about synthetic oils leaking past seals and what not.
