1.5 Qts. of oil in the first 1500 mi!!!....Is this normal oil consumption?

1.5 Qts. of oil in the first 1500 mi!!!....Is this normal oil consumption?
Well I just recently rolled past 1500 mi on my '01 2.8QMS, and the low oil light came on. I checked the dipstick and there wasn't any oil on the metal indicator section, only on the extreme end of the plastic; before any one even offers, yes I do know how to check oil properly. I picked up 2 qts of 0-30W Mobil 1 and it took 1.5 qts to make it register full again. Is this typical oil consumption with the 2.8 or should I be concerned. I was thinking that the dealer should deal with topping off the oil, since supposedly all maint. is included with the warranty, but I figure they wouldn't use Mobil 1 and I had no time to waste waiting at the dealer for something stupid like this, so I just went out and did it myself.

Sounds a little on the heavy side...
...but then again, I was shocked and horrified that mine had comsumed 3/4 during the 1000 mile break in period.
Many people here seem to be at ease with the engine consuming oil for the first several thousand miles of its life - I for one am not.
Out of curiosity, did you check your oil on delivery? (I didnt)
