Default 1.8T exhaust drone? Please advise

Hey all, I have a 99 Passat with the 1.8T. On the freeway I have an annoying drone coming from the engine bay. It sounds and feels like the pre-cat/down pipe. It has a resonance/vibration that seems a little too severe to be stock. When I put it in nuetral on the freeway and the drone dies down it's such a relief. Is this normal on these cars? The exhaust is totally stock. Anyone have any suggestions for quieting this? Header wrap? Test pipe? I've lready done the Dynamat on the firewall. Thanks

Default Sounds like a leaking flexpipe. Get that fixed, fix your problem... Also, header wrap on the

cat makes things quiet. I put header wrap over my test pipe and it was quieter than when I had an HFC on the car.

Default So there is a certain amount of drone then even in from the factory? I wasn't sure...

I've owned a Jetta with the 1.8T, but it didn't drone. On the freeway and around town it is noticeable and annoying. Does this sound normal?

Default Factory exhausts don't drone. As others said, you have a leak.

I have a complete exhaust in the northeast if you need parts.
