1.8TQMS - Turn signals got weird, then quit working???
Ok.. on Thursday night coming home from an evening with the rents, the turn signals started to get a little goofy. They would come on just fine, but then would loose their "rythem" and then turn off on their own. I would just reset the switch and they would come right back on. Well, Friday comes along and now I could hear the relay clicking but the light in my cluster was illuminating. And when I got close to other cars, i ccould tell my blink on the outside of the car wasn't working. Then on the way home from work on Friday, they relay stopped responding all together. I am assuming I have a bad turn signal relay.. but before I blindly go purchase an expensive relay, and wanted to get some insight from some other Audi owners...
Also, on a side note... my windshield wipers are starting to act goofy as well. Well i pull down on the wiper switch, it is supposed to do a single wipe and then stop. Well, it is starting to wipe 3, 4, or 5 times before it stops.
Anyway, any help or guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-John

Daughter's 2002 Jetta had similar issue. Found fix on VW Vortex forum - get some CRC electrical contact cleaner and spray in joint on turn signal stock, just inside the cover on the steering wheel. Make sure all electricals off first. Work the switch through all axis of movement several times. Allow to dry for about 10 minutes.
Hers has been working perfectly for 2 weeks so far.
Cheers

You are 100% correct...
You're right... I called the dealership last weekend after looking at the wiring diagrams. Mentioned my problem and they knew that it was the hazard and like you said the stock them. Must be a fairly common failure in order to keep the replacement part in stock.
Problem is fixed... thanks to those who contributed.
