Hahah I talked to mike, sounds like some of it is EVO's fault cause of your exhaust
and that you're running a 93 chip...how come they didn't give you a 91 I thought GIAC has one since he runs his car here in SoCal, I just assumed you'd get 91 Octane programming by default.
I'm not knockin...I wanna drive the bitch when it's all runnin right. You still on the stock clutch tho?

GIAC has the kit on a non dbw and the chips are different.
I told tony and he will have Garrett lower the timing for 91 octane. The 93 runs about 19 degrees while the 91 needs about 14 max. Now that I have a car here in socal it will be a little easier for them to fine tune the kit. The fine tuned the non dbw on Garretts car and then moved into the dbw cars, like Femi's passat for the 2000 and now they are working on the 2001 chip. But you know we here in CA get left for last. Look at apr they still have not done a 91 chip for any of the dbw cars or the stage 3 cars. Even though we pretty much have the most cars per state, the 91 chip just is not on the list of TO DO stuff.

Yeah APR will release 91 code about roughly when hell freezes over twice
let's see it was at DubWar what..like a year ago now that they were supposedly going to take back 55 gallon drums of 91 octane cali gas so they could redo the full range of chips.
Now they're bitching that they can't get an 01 car to do the testing on, but they had Todds avant all this time, but since it has Stage III on it they can't do it. I swear people it's not that F'ing hard. You offer a free chip in trade for using the car for a day or two and you'll be AMAZED how many people will come flying out of the woodwork begging to take you up on that offer. You put them in a $20 geo rental for a day and there's no down time. You're out the cost of a chip (maybe $50 in APR's case tops) and $20 bux for a rental car...ohh ahh $70 development expense to make EVERY GODDAMN person in California happy :-( I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with them on that subject.

Looks pretty bad when they take the 91 fuel home with them and cant get it done in a year
but yet GIAC not only does a 91 chip but will be releasing the new 2001 X chip for 91 octane. GIAC will also have the 91 chip for the PES kit done too. Just funny how 1 guy can tune so many different chips on his spare time then a company can that does it all day long.

Mike you can I both know they can do it...they just don't
I dunno why...but they don't. I guess they don't care or people don't bitch loud enuf. They've got a lot of programs too, it's not like they don't know how to tune.
I think the thing is they won't simply pull out some timing and ship a chip w/o testing it. I have a feeling GIAC would do that...just tweek the maps and send it off. Maybe that's why they're taking so long, but a year is IMHO a bit too long.
