12 valve...I think???
How can I be sure if I have a 12 v. Its a 97 2.8Q, and it doesn't say anywhere in the owners manual. And where can I find an intake and exhaust and chip for the damn thing. I'm having the worst luck finding parts for it.

The '97's are 12V.....
Try LLtek for the intake though the jury's still out whether it does any good.
There are a few exhaust manufacturers out there for the 12V.
Chips are next to non-existant. A few 12V'ers have been trying to work with a company to provide a chip. Either way it will not provide the increase that you would see for a turbo engine like the 1.8T. IF the chip can be done, expect about a 15hp increase.

Re: Just take the head off and check. =) I think only 96s were 12v... then they evolved
But I was to believe that if the engine came with 172 hp then it was a 12v, and the 30v had 195hp? Why can't anyone give me a straight answer to this?
