Greetings Audians! How can you tell if your A4 is a 1998 or a 1998.5? I'm looking into buying a preowned A4 1.8tq either 97 or 98.I'm just not sure if I should spend the extra couple grand on a 98 if I can get a 97 with the same mileage. What were the changes between 1997-1998-1998.5?Thanx!!!

I didn't think there was a change from 98 - 98.5, however there is a change from 99 - 99.5

98.5 has newer cupholders, and Onyx black cloth int.

98.5 also came with concert head unit. No other major differences.

I believe the BPV is in a more accessible location. New tensioner?

98.5 has the red taillights and doesnt have the oval emblem

is the concert unit better? i have a delta bose sytem..what is the diff besides looks?

97 has Jellybeans on front fenders under the side markers and a yellow stripe in the rear tail lights for turn signals. No Tiptronic offered.
98 has Jellybeans as well on front fenders, all red rear taillights offered with clear for reverse.
98.5 No Jellybeans, red rear tail lights. Bose stereo upgrade offered. Tiptronic introduced.
