Default 2000 1.8 horsepower . . . an engineering perspective

After all the discussion about the true horsepower of the 2000 1.8's, Brett of APR has finally weighed in with his perspective @vwvortex. Follow this link, and scroll down to 4th post from bottom. This finally makes sense to me. Thanks, Brett.

Default well Brett's info certainly sounds accurate, but here's what I don't get......

More than a few people have run the 2000 1.8T back to back with earlier models both on the track and with Gtech times and the 2000 is about a second faster... I guess that the throttle response could help a little, but hard to believe that this would make such a big difference under WOT.

Default

Sounds like the dbw throttle response works with the bp valve to minimize turbo spool up.

Default Yes, and it greatly reduces throttling losses across the throttle plate...

for situations when the accelerator pedal is not fully depressed.
