2000 A4 Q Rear Wheel Bearing Issues
I just had the rear wheel bearing on my 2000 A4 Q replaced maybe 6 months ago and I already hear it starting to go again. My mechanic explained to me that the way they are designed, they are not protected from water or dirt getting into them so if I'm driving in wet or dirty conditions they'll wear out quick.
6 Months seems too soon to me. I drive in normal New England conditions and paid about $750 to get both replaced and now one is going again...
Questions is if anyone knows a good quality rear wheel bearing that I can get and not have to worry about this happening in another 6 months.
Thanks in advance.

Find another mechanic, he is telling you a story. The bearings have integral seals, and they are most certainly protected from dirt and water. Most likely is that the bearing was damaged as it was installed, less likely you got a bad bearing.

Thanks David,
I didn't think that was right either, but this guy has a great reputation around town and he is one of the only Audi and BMW specialists in the area. He seems like a very honest guy so I want to believe him but there is no way I can afford to have him replace rear wheel bearings every few months.
Thanks for the info, I'll do some shopping around.

How is the balance of the car? Is it leaning towards that side by any chance? I had my bearings done a while back and something wasn't level and was adding pressure on the bearing which shorting the life. Thank God for warranties though.
