With 3/32 of the tire worn down, do you recommend replacing all 4 or just 2
tires. The percentage difference is 0.8%, ie for every 1000 miles (front tires), the new set will do 1008 miles (back tires). Does anyone know if this is within the tolerence of the quattro system, or will it cause undue stress? Any comments appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Same make/model size; 2 should be fine. Otherwise, repl. all 4 I would think
Then again, what does owner's manual say? If that big a deal, I think they would say something.
As I remember, I ran front & rears with measureable tread difference on old Coupe Quattro without problems; Quatro fine even when sold it at 128K miles.

A good tire shop can "shave" new tires to match the tirees on your car.
Ask your tire shop if they do this. This is useful if you have expensive tires on the car, and only need one or two replaced. The shaving keeps the new tire in line with the old and saves you money (instead of buying four tires).
