I've used all three. Solidworks is fine.
Pro E is nice but not worth the licensing agreement. (If they still do that, I use Solidworks 2004 now). Solidworks is about the same for much cheaper. Any 2-D package like Autocad or hell, even Cadkey which I haven't used in years, is worth having as well for exactly what you said. Quick and easy line drawings. Plus, for legacy drawing files it's usually quicker to just modify the old file.

Geez, I made my 12v one freehand. You crazy kids and your measuring tapes :-)

FWIW, the bend of the bar is not critical. You will notice that my DIY bar is MUCH deeper than the 'real' one.. it did work perfectly though.
