3rd cracket windshield!!!!
Entered the freeway this morining and a big truck passed by on the freeway. Heard a bang and noticed a ROCK flying of the windshield. Have had the car for less than two years and this is the third time...
For me it seems like a problem with the A4. Have an Audi 100 as well and never had a cracked windshield.
By the way, is this covered by the Audi warranty???

Not covered under warranty, that's what insurance is for...
You should try living here in CO. What they put on the roads in winter (Oct-Apr) and call "sand", is actually up to 1/4" diameter rocks!

Not an A4 problrm (more)
In the 25 years I have lived in Houston I have had stone chips on the windshield of every car that I have owned. Some of those happened within a couple of weeks of purchase.
Cracks will usually appear from these chips with large temperature fluctuations.

Houston is the cracked windshield capitol
Of the world. We have the worst roads (spalling conctete), no center median on most highways (poor planning) and high truck traffic. The gravel haulers are some of the worst as far a littering, too bad they don't write tickets for that!
Last week, a steel hauler lost his load and punched MAJOR holes on an elevated highway. Last year, a father and his three children were crushed and burned to death by a collision caused by a drunk trucker. Now law enforcement is taking notice and a recent crack-down netted serious violations. Keep up the good work!
The increased traffic plus construction has placed much more debris on the highways, resulting in more cracked windshields. Air quality problems has decreased fedral funding, reducing the clean-up crews on the majors so it doesn't apper to be improving. Most Houston cars have at least one divot, if not completely cracked.
I will vote that this is a nation-wide problem, not an Audi-VW issue.
