Windshield crack...help.

Windshield crack...help.
I mentioned last week that my windshield was hit by a rock just below the right windshield wiper, and it cracked. The crack is holding steady at about 3-4 inches, although time will change this.
I heard about the pen test, and thought I would give it a try, while knowing it was a rock that hit my windshield. The pen runs flawlessly over the crack.
I wonder know if the rock may have hit the plastic below the windshield, causing it to crack and did not actually hit the windshield itself.
What do I say to the dealer to see if they will warranty it as a stress crack? I would love to not have to pay for a new windshield.
Any advice?

I have USAA, and I think I would have to pay my full deductible. Not to mention, if I have them do it, I might fear I might get put into a different pool of drivers(I haven't filed a claim in years).
I would rather have it done for free under warranty at the dealer.

call them and ask..it can't hurt. I had this real high risk stuff when I called mine in, and they still covered it.
It doesn't effect your rates. If you are worried about it, don't tell them who you are when you call and and ask them if it would make your rates go up. Getting a stone chip in your window does not endanger other drivers. Smashing a 2 ton machine into another can hurt people whether you just have dumb luck or it's your fault, that's why they raise your rates.
