Default 5000 mile services questions

I am taking my 01 1.8TQ in for the 5000 mile service at Laurel in Westmont soon, and was wondering: Do they use synthetic oil or should I bring it (is it worth it)? My old car (1999 BMW 323i) only needed an oil service every 10,000 miles due to some oil or whatever the reason was - Does the Audi go at similar intervals after the 5000 mile service?

Thanks for any response.

Default Audi service intervals are at 5000, 10000, 15000, etc...

If you want synthetics you'll have to buy it yourself. The dealerships will usually have it but you never know about prices till you get there.

I thought the synthetics were worth it. Gear changes felt smoother. If you drive hard it would definately be recommended since oil temperatures can get high.

Default Other tips...

Dont bring them more oil than your car requires because they will likely overfill it.

Get your little service book stamped/updated

Default Exactly what Ken said....it's a supplement to the Owner's Manual....

....with all the service information in it. There are also locations for the dealer to stamp their logo and mileage for the various service stops.

If you didn't have one included in the bundle of books that came with the car, see your dealer.

Default I thought 1st service is at 5000, and then 10000 and every 10000 miles

I dunno, as I'm only halfway through 5000 miles and trying my best to hold it down but couldn't resist the temptation to drive it :>

I also live in Chicagoland (west burbs) and would love to hear from you regarding which dealer is the best to service the cars. Thanks!!
