99.5 1.8tqms front left suspension clunk unresolved!!!
Posted about this last week... the left front suspension makes a clunking sound when going over small bumps and depressions in the road.
ne-way, I took the car in to the dealer to have them fix it...or at least diagnose it. They could not find the problem Guess they are going to having some regional audi guy look at. Has anyone have this problem? I have the "revised" 99.5 (sports) front suspension (confirmed by dealer).

Not sure if this will help, but, when I had my Jamex springs put on with the stock shocks, I had some clunking sounds too, problem was that the shock needed to be rotated in its mount while off of the car and reinstalled, there is some sort of notch in there. Good Luck!!

Re: 99.5 1.8tqms front left suspension clunk unresolved!!!
I owned a 98 volkswagen passat, and i was quick to learn that when i went over small bumps even very slowly like speed bumps, a slight click sound would happen, almost like something was loose and was slapping down on something else....im not sure what this was, and i had it checked out but they couldn't figure out the problem....is this what you're experiencing? i think you should talk to an audiispecialist. sorry i couldn't be any help....

Ok,
I've got what sounds like the same problem on the left front. I have an aftermarket spring & shock installed. this clunking sound surfaced about 4 months after the install. The dealer says it is my aftermarket setup, charge me $250 for an alignment (!!) and the noise is still there.
Originally they thought it might be the steering rack. Now, when the right wheel goes over a bump you can sometimes clunk on the side.
What connects both wheels? Steering rack, stress bar anything else??
