A friend of mine just leased (on a special order) a 99.5 1.8TQM w/ sunroof, sport package, all weather package, cloth interior, and sport seats. It listed out something a little more than $29,000. He will take delivery end of April 1999.
The Audi Dealer said Bank One had the best rates, so didn't quote Audi's captive finance division. Monthly payment on a 39 monthm 15,000 mile/year lease was $402 including 7% Minnesota sales tax, w/ $1400 due at closing (no security deposit required). The interesting twist is that the car is completely residualized at 36 months, so payment for the last 3 months is a little over $100/month.
Thought this was a pretty good deal.

I got a 99 1.8T QMS with sunroof. The sticker was $27690, I ended up paying $26000. I'm on a 3 year lease and put down $5000. Monthly pmts came to ~$330 at 10k miles. I got it through Beverly Hills Audi/Porsche.
I live in Santa Barbara and was having lots of trouble landing a good deal in So. Cal. so I talked to the father of a friend at a Phoenix dealer. I would say it was a pretty good experience. Once we found the car I wanted (much like yours 1.8 / quattro / tip / sunroof / sport / bose), we came to a deal in 5 minutes. No hidden BS. 6% over invoice (29960 MSRP) for 36 mo. lease worked out to $465/mo (incl CA sales tax) w/ $1500 closing fees.
Money wise, this may not be the best of the best deals, but the making the deal and talking with them has always been a pleasure. In addition, the dealer offered to buy back the stock tires and install new ones (I wanted high performance snows), and change the remote entry programming for no charge, and finally ship the car to my door step for $250.
If you're interested, e-me and I can give you some more info on the dealer.
Default Comment on 39 month lease...

Hope he doesn't incur any major repair costs during months 36-39 of the lease after the warranty is expired.

Default Caution:Your friend's Nov. lease quote won't hold 'till Apr...

It may go up, it may go down, but I hope his dealer told him that it WON'T be $409.

Glenn: do you really think Audi wants a potential re-lease customer to incur a large repair expense
just prior to making a replacement car decision? They don't; any repair not attributable to outside influence will be mostly, or totally, "goodwilled" during the 36 - 39 month window, unless, possibly, the car has 88,000 miles on it.
