Default A4/2.8 '00 w/o Zenon or wait for A4/2.8 '01

I could really use some advice from the collective experience of the forum ........................( if you are so inclined ...? )

I have an opportunity to purchase one of the following:

1. A4/2.8 '00 Pelican Blue Metalic / Onyx with all of the options I desire with the exception of the Zenon HID's ( which I really want )

2. A4/2.8 '00 Casablance White/Ecxru & Onyx with all options desired including the Zenon HID's.

3. Immediately order a A4/2.8 '01

Questions:

A) Are the Zenon HID's really worth it....?

B) Should I choose one of the above and take delivery immediately...?

C) Can anyone tell me what changes AUDI will make to the NAV System in the '01 A4's...?

D) If I ordered an A4 today...When could I realistically expect delivery...?
I look forward to hearing from you!!

Default If you ask me I'd take the Casa now....

B) But then again I'm partial to Casablanca white. And the Ecru/Onyx is a nice touch too. With Xenons to boot, you can't go wrong unless you just want to sit and wait for your order. Trust me, the wait will be excruciatingly painful.
A) A yest the Xenons are worth it. Night driving has now taken on a completely different perspective. Vision is MUCH improved.
C) ?
D) ?<p>~Matt

Default If you were talking 1.8T, I'd say wait for '01, but with 2.8, go for option #2....

as long as you are sure about the color. You have to look at the color everyday and if you are settling, you may regret it.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=161"</a><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/a4registrydl.jpg" BORDER=0></a>

Default Xenons are worth getting....

If you special order, it could take 3 to 5 months, depending on the demand in your area. If you get an exceptional deal, say 3-4% over invoice, then it is hard to pass up one that is on the lot.

For '01 there is a slight price increase and a charge for metallic paint. The tiptronic may also be standard so you may have to pay for it even if you get the manual trans.

Default Picked up mine yesterday w/o Xenon....

By the way, I think this is a great car. Off the point the 2001 does have 170hp compared to 150 in the 2000. However, if you intend to chip, as I do, then this is not important.

I thought about the Xenons but could not find a 2000 with Quattro, sport & conv, man and side curtain air bags w/ Xenons. The other options were primary over the Xenons. So I took what I could find, but if the Xenons were on the car, then great.

Are they worth the money? Some say yes, I would say NO. Here's why: My mom's Lexus GS 400 has Xenons and they are bright and blue and do a wonderful job. The light is very "clear", and "crisp". Thought I wanted that same level of intensity.

However, after driving my car last night, the stock headlights on my 2000 are AWESOME. This compared to a 95 4runner I am replacing. Here's more:
- low beams are wide and long and very bright. They have NO problems lighting up the road well.
- turn on the fog lights and the driving area is completely lit up, very well. Better than what I expected really.
- Hit the high beams and DAMN, very impressive. And wierdly enough the sides/curbs are lit up as well as the front. Great for driving through unlit areas with curbs, etc.

I though I would be missing something without the Xenons, (and I might be), but given how well the stock lights "light up the night", I don't think I am missing anything. Except about $750 on the sticker and $10-15+ on the monthly payment. I do know they are the latest "trend", and I use that word loosely, and the blue effect is interesting, but given how the stocks work, I would have no problem recommending any A4, with or without the lights.

I agree, drove my parent's brand new A6 with Xenon and I wasn't THAT impressed with the lights.

Default All Xenons are not created equally. I don't have any proof but I think that Audi's Xenons are better

The Xenon Headlights on the GS400 does not represent all Xenon Headlights, some are better than others.

I Own a 1998.5 with the 2000 Projector style headlight mod. I love them, they blow away the standard 98.5 headlights. But everytime a see a Xenon Equppied A4 pass by, I'm in Awe.

Default I think Xenons look cooler than they actually are...

I own a 99.5 A4 with the projectors. Great lights, I even put the Jahns in the fogs and lows for a little whiter light. My parents just got an A6 with Xenons and I took it out the first night they had it to test the Xenons everyone was "goo-gooing" over. Well, I did not see THAT much of an improvement over my projectors. Just more purple in color. But the pattern and the brightness seemed about the same. The H7 Halogen is a really good bulb, very bright for 55W. I think I'll save my $1600 for the conversion. Maybe I'll just upgrade to the Audi H7 Euro-units instead, which I hear are really good.

I think the Xenons look really cool for oncoming drivers, but behind the wheel, it isn't night and day between the H7s and Xenons. Unless there's something wrong with my parent's A6.

Default Re: A4/2.8 '00 w/o Zenon or wait for A4/2.8 '01

Funny my wife considered the same option. Same color, same car. Can't be that many of them around. Supposedly the car was in the East Coast. Did not have sport seats. Having driven my A6 with the Zenons and realizing that as we are getting older it is harder to see(age 50), she would not buy the car without the Zenons so we ordered it from Car order end of March and were told delivery Sep 7th. On the other hand, if you are in your 20's then you probably don't need any lights at all!
