Default A4 B5 HVAC Question.

Hi,

I have a '98 A4 Avant B5 and have completed the interior swap including centre console etc.

I have the fog light module which I intend to wire in in the next few weeks...

But my question is...

On the B5 non facelift, there is a separate interior temperature monitor as in the pic below which fits on to the old HVAC control unit by means of a rubber hose...

Can I just disconnect and dis-guard this one and if so, what do I do with the wiring supplying the unit in the first picture?

Its just a 12v+ and an earth...

Is it required to make the unit hold a constant temp when on Auto, or has the new unit got all the wiring it needs and can hold the temp without me doing anything with the old wiring?

Below is the fitted facelift HVAC control unit with the monitor being the white circular module you can see...

Any help appreciated.
