About to have instrument cluster replaced, and I have one important question ...
... can the odometer of the new instrument cluster be set to the same number of miles as the odometer on my old cluster? Service tech says he doesn't think so, but he'll try to find out more. Does anyone have any practical experience with this? Is there an online or printed source with instructions on how to do this?
I should also add that my service center is a VW/Porsche/BMW dealer, but is also a factory authorized Audi service center, however they see very few A4s there. So explicit information is appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

Had cluster replaced 3 times with my first A4, mileage adjusted each time. (More)...
In fact, adjusting mileage probably a legal requirement in most states. In all three cases, the adjusted mileage was within about 5 miles or so of actual.

Yes it does get set. However, as DaveN mentioned,...
...the cluster has to be set for the right engine or you'll get weird readings. I know because I've been through this. The tachometer swings wildly past the redline under moderate acceleration. Looks kind of cool, but it's not right. Will have it fixed at next service.
