AC Compressor on 99.5 and up, any relationship to snowflake symbol
in instrument cluster temp display? I checked the archives and I'm confused about the new climate control. When you hit ECON the compressor is turned off and the AC shuts off automatically when outside temps are low. I can't find anything in the 99.5 supplemental manual that mentions what this outside temp is. Yesterday, it was about 35 F, the snow flake symbol showed in the temp display, but it appeared that the idle RPMs changed when I cycled the ECON switch. I thought I read that when the temp display showed the flake the AC was off.

Re: AC Compressor on 99.5 and up, any relationship to snowflake symbol
As far as I know the snowflake symbol only shows up between a certain *outside* temperature range (4C to -6C in Canada, not sure what it would be in the States)...it has nothing to do with the climate control settings for the car but rather is a warning symbol stating that the outside temperature is condusive to the formation of black ice.
Of course I could be wrong...once again, check the manual...
