Is it acceptable to use K&N oil filters on my 2.8 AHA motor?

Just wondering if I could?I change oil sooner than most Audi owners 3000 to 5000 miles and use Castrol Syntec Blend .Has anyone ran into any problem using these?

use this instead

OEM for oil filters and Mobil 1 15W50 or Amsoil 20W50.

Too heavy on the oil.We had 20 days below 20 degrees last month.

I've been using OE filters but had seen on a web site that the K&N had high burst strength like the Audi filters.I would need to use a lighter oil because the start up pressure are so high in winter when it stays this cold.Here in Ohio we have also had 5 nights with temps below -5 this yr.I've been thinking of one of the new zero weight Mobil oils.I've been told by a Mobil rep at work that it would be okay,he puts it in his Porsche.
