adding trip computer

I don't think it is viable (+ related question)
They have to change the whole instrument cluster and right control arm - way too expensive to add later IMHO.<p>I was wondering if it would be possible just to add the trip computer control arm and tap into the switch for other purposes (i.e. activating my radar or creating a kill switch). Can be done but...
I had asked this question about 2 months ago or so I guess. And the answer that I got was that it can be done, but it is going to cost about $1,000 plus. They have to install a new instrument cluster in order to add the option, and also install a new wiper stalk.<br>The A4 that I had bought, pre-owned, does not have it, and from what I have heard, while it is useful, the novilty of it wears off after a while. Actually, I happen to like the cluster better without it IMHO, gives it a more modern look.<br>ALD

wiring harnesses are also different. w/o trip (more)
you don't get<br>brake and other light failure warning<br>low wiper fluid.<p>this means extra wiring.<p>yup, bet on at least $1000. <p>if u like toys though, search the archives. A fellow member is adding all kinds of neat info using trip (boost guage, etc)
