so I'm considering an Audi A4 1.8t 2001 problem is guy says timing belt is broke and car is not running. I asked if car was running when the belt snapped. His response was the belt did not snap the tensioner was loose AN yes the car was running. He is also unsure if there is any damage to the engine. He is asking 800 o.b.o for the car. Is there anything I should ask or should I just walk away, not sure about repairs for this. Thank you for your advice

It is an interference engine, if you are lucky the valves are just bent, it could get much worse. Anyway, the potential is there for lots of dollars. I would walk away and look for something that works.
