Air Bag ingiter update. Follow-up on a previous post.
I posted this a while ago, but at the time I posted it I did not have the VAG codes with me, so here's my follow up. The codes I got were:
Address 15: Airbags
01217 Side Airbag igniter; Driver's side (N199)
32-10-Resistance too high - Intermittent
01212 Belt Tensioner igniter;Rear passenger(N197)
32-10-Resistance too high - Intermittent
When I cleared the codes while sitting in the driver seat, 01217 came right back. Next time I cleared them I was kneeling outside the car, the code didn't come back immediately. At any rate, I pulled apart the plug under the seat, cleaned it and used zip ties to make sure the connection was tight and no code since. Not sure about the rear passenger belt tensioner yet. Of course the dealer was all ready to sell me the entire side bag assembly for about $1800.00. So far, it has cost me about $.02 in zip ties, about 3ml of contact cleaner and about an hour of my time. My understanding of how our Airbag system works is that if one doesn't work, none of them work. Does anyone know if the Airbags work if one of the belt tensioner igniters is bad? Thanks in advance, and I hope this is helpful to anyone that has the same issue in the future.

Not sure which one was the culprit... The yellow I think.
There are three in mine, red, green and yellow. I should have mentioned this in my initial post, but I did disconnect the battery when I did this. Also, I did this today, so it's entirely possible that tomorrow the light could be back on. Crossing fingers on that one.
