No,you're not insane. I have bought several cars long distance and been very happy with all. The latest one was my current A4 Avant - 1999 with 1.8T and tiptronic. Bought it without ever seeing it in person and had it shipped from Virginia to Oregon. Very happy with it. No surprises except one tire did not match the other three - so the dealer paid for a new tire.
