Another control arm victim... time to organize a petition.informative site?
Big surprise right? I suppose it's also not that big of a surprise that when I called Audi customer relations that they refused to aknowledge this design flaw and won't help at all with the repairs. My B5 is a 98 V6 Quattro with 125k miles- definitely a bit on the high side mile wise which is likely to contribute to their decision to not help out. I went ahead and filed a complaint with the NHTSA(the DOT) and my State Attorney General for Consumer protection against AOA for their inaction. I was lucky enough that when mine failed that I was driving about 25mph on an empty street and was able to pull over to the side and have it towed. With as wide spread as this problem seems, I don't think that everyone that has one of these cars with a control arm fail will be as lucky as I was. If I was on the interstate I would probably not be here. Like so many others before me, I'm feeling angered at the position that Audi has taken on these failures so I may organize an informative site and a petition for all those that have had control arm failures in the past so we can convince the DOT to go after AOA and have these control arms of death replaced.
You know the situation. Fix it and stop whinning.
When we talk about 'failures', usually it's some kid with a squeaky ball joint.
Please provide some pictures of your failed arm.
