Another strange starting problem with solution
I went to pull the 01 A4q 1.8 tip project out of the garage today so I could swap the snow tires onto the wife's A4 in the middle of our first snow storm. It acted completely dead! Couldn't even hear the starter solenoid click.
Long story short, it appears a missing central locking pump will prevent the car from starting, at least in this case. Maybe the locks were 'locked' and it activated the security system somehow.
I had pulled the pump to send to a guy in Texas that was desperate for one for his wife's car and forgot to install one of my older, untested pumps back into my car.
